The picturesquely situated town of Frederikssund lies about 40 kilometres south of the Danish capital Copenhagen. The small town on the Roskilde Fjord on the island of Zealand has a population of more than 15,000 residents and is an extremely popular destination, especially among German holidaymakers. The lovely area is also very popular with Danes who are looking for a quiet place to spend the third stage of their lives.

North of Frederikssund, a very special housing project for senior citizens was completed this summer. The “Sivhusene” (reed houses) project comprises 119 residential units, designed as two- or three-room flats with 62 and 93 square metres of living space respectively. The idyllic location in the middle of greenery combines the proximity to the water of the Roskilde Fjord with easy accessibility to the city centre of Frederikssund, three kilometres away.
The flats in the reed houses are all perfectly tailored to comfortable living in old age, and some are even barrier-free. Large windows create light-flooded rooms, and the spacious bathrooms and open-plan living and dining areas offer the residents of the reed houses comfort and cosiness in typical Scandinavian style. When it came to choosing the floors, HARO was awarded the contract for the TRITTY 100 plank laminate floor in all 119 residential units in the Oak Emilia Honey style variant, covering a total of 6,100 square metres. The light brown shade of the laminate flooring harmonises wonderfully with the bright design of the walls and windows in the living rooms and kitchens of the spacious flats.
