The Ambiente in Niederkrüchten is one of the most popular restaurant destinations, and a perfect rest point on the Zwei-Seen hiking route in the Viersen district. The tasteful furnishings of the Ambiente’s two dining areas provide the perfect setting to enjoy the home-style cooking that is served in the restaurant. Thanks to their cooking and outstanding service, owner Enver Emric and his team have garnered an excellent reputation in the region. The guests of the Ambiente dine in either the large or the small dining area, while an additional room is home to a bowling alley decorated to match the style of the restaurant. However, the large window fronts and sonically ‘hard’ interior wall surfaces of the building presented Enver Emric and his team with the downside that ambient sound had very long reverberation times in the interior. This made guests feel uncomfortable – something they made known.

HARO Akustik elements are visually striking and eliminate noise
The problem was clear. Matching the colours of the restaurant furnishings, owner Enver Emric opted for Sand Oak textured Akustik elements from HARO’s Natural Line and Leanline for the half-height design of the walls of the rooms, as well as the side walls of the bowling alley. In addition, the Foldakustik design variant was fitted to fit the side walls and match the style, making it as much a feature of the room as a sound absorber.
In addition to the subtle visual adjustment, the acoustic effect caused by installing the HARO Akustik elements is astounding. Measurements taken before the renovation and immediately afterwards show a significant improvement in acoustic values. Category B4 according to DIN 18041 “Rooms with a need for reduced noise levels and room comfort” acted as the basis for measurements: The measurements taken before and after show that the reverberation time was reduced by 0.23 seconds. Now the measured sound levels in every frequency range fall well below the prescribed values.
To achieve this remarkable effect, 107 square metres of sound-absorbing HARO Akustik elements were mounted on the restaurant walls. Both visually and acoustically, the Ambiente restaurant is now a shining example of how easy, simple and elegant it can be to achieve a pleasant room atmosphere in existing buildings by using HARO Akustik.
