Asian cities have one goal in mind when they build skyscrapers: They want to construct record breakers. From 2004 to 2009, the Taiwanese capital of Taipei had the honour of being home to the world’s tallest building. The skyscraper “Taipei 101” was given this sonorous name because it had 101 floors and, at a height of 508 metres, towered over any other building that had been erected up until this point in time.
The building finally had to relinquish the record when the luxury hotel Burj Khalifa, the defining landmark of Dubai, opened its doors. As a consolation prize, Taipei 101 retained its title as the world’s tallest office building, that is until another gigantic structure came along. At a height of 541 metres, the One World Trade Center in New York that was completed in 2014 now owns the record.

The 101 floors of the mammoth Taipei 101 are packed with shops, supermarkets, leisure time facilities, restaurants and bars. The country’s largest supermarket is located in basement one level of the building. Five other basement levels are located below the first level. They are used by technical services and parking. Restaurants and cafés offering fantastic views of the city begin on the 86th floor, at a height of 400 metres.
The Taiwanese flooring company Ever Freight was awarded a contract to install a laminate floor for a coffee shop in the restaurant section of the building. The interior designers wanted to create a harmonious contrast to the interior they were planning. They selected the HARO laminate floor TRITTY 100 Plank 1-Strip 4V Oak Emilia White authentic soft for this very reason.
As a result, HARO has every right to say that it holds the record for the highest-installed laminate flooring. The particularly bright style variant covers the entire hospitality area of the chic coffee shop and creates a cosy coffee shop atmosphere in the 50- square-metre area. The panoramic views of Taipei and surrounding areas of the Taiwanese capital at a height of more than 400 metres are just as impressive as the pleasant atmosphere in the coffee shop itself.
