An exemplary performance

Popular and creative installation patterns for large and small rooms.

Is strip parquet only suitable for flats in old buildings? Not at all. Whether in English bond or herringbone: wood fits into both traditional and modern living spaces. Especially in new buildings, classic laying patterns provide exciting contrasts. You can even combine different types of wood. It is also possible to lay the floor over underfloor heating more efficiently. Some parquet even feels at home in the bathroom. As you can see, there are numerous ways to design rooms with strip parquet.

When choosing the right installation pattern, the focus is on the characteristics of the room and its occupants: How is the room cut? What is the style of the furniture? What is the room used for?

What effect do laying patterns have in a room?

Various factors influence the spatial effect of parquet. In addition to the visual effect of the different types of wood, the laying direction and pattern also have a major influence.

Find out which laying pattern has which effect.

The most popular laying patterns - a selection

HARO strip parquet, laid in a regular pattern for a harmonious and structured floor design.

Regular bond
The regular pattern is also known as English pattern or half pattern. And half is the name of the game here: you lay the strips parallel to each other, but offset by half a strip. As a variant, you can also have the parquet strips laid diagonally in the room.

Effect: This regular laying is something for order lovers. The pattern has a harmonious effect. The choice of sorting or furniture can also be a little more special. In this way, the parquet floor provides calm in rooms with many pieces of furniture.

HARO strip parquet, laid in the Old German pattern for a traditional and elegant floor design.

Old German bond
The Old German bond is similar to the regular bond. The sticks are again laid parallel to each other, but not staggered. The pattern is interrupted with a short stick turned 90 degrees. For this, the staves must be shortened professionally.

Effect: The laying pattern does not appear quite as calm as the regular bond. It is more lively and wants to unfold its spatial effect.

HARO strip parquet, laid in a parallel pattern for a classic and harmonious floor design.

Parallel bond
The parallel strip is the basis of the first two strips. The only difference is that the parquet strips are at the same height without being interrupted. The installation pattern is also suitable for combining several types of wood within one area.

Effect: The most modern spatial effect is achieved with this installation. The surface is restrained and lends a geometric atmosphere through its order.

HARO strip parquet, laid in an irregular pattern for a dynamic and lively floor design.

Irregular bond
The irregular bond, also known as wild bond, also consists of parallel laid sticks that are offset in the laying flow, without an order.

Effect: In this laying, the least planning and calculation is done. The effect is correspondingly lively to wild. But it is precisely this that emphasises the individuality of each individual stick as a piece of nature.

HARO strip parquet laid in an elegant herringbone pattern – timeless aesthetics and high-quality craftsmanship combined.

Herringbone pattern
This challenging installation is a real classic that is absolutely back in fashion. The parquet strips are laid at right angles to each other.

Effect: The single herringbone version looks more filigree, while double herringbone looks more solid. What both have in common is a great play of light on the surface, but it also needs its space. Herringbone parquet is suitable for large rooms without carpets, but sometimes with an edge frieze.

HARO strip parquet laid in a cube pattern – a sophisticated and geometric look for timeless elegance in the room.

Cube pattern
The cube pattern is also called cube bond or board pattern. First, several parquet strips are joined together to form squares, which are then laid horizontally and vertically, always alternating. Here, too, the use of different types of wood is recommended.

Effect: The cube bond is reminiscent of a chessboard and brings two worlds together: a striking pattern and a balanced effect.

HARO strip parquet laid in a ladder pattern – a stylish installation method that provides structure and elegance through its clear lines.

Ladder system
The basis of a ladder floor or ladder bond is a parallel bond. Two installation patterns alternate: Next to a row of parallel-laid rods lies a vertically inserted single row.

Effect: A ladder bond makes rooms look larger, offers the eye something to explore, but does not distract too much from the furnishings.

Whether herringbone parquet oak, ladder bond amber robinia, beech parquet in English bond, we recommend that you always call on the expert help of our HARO Partner because this is the only way to get a timelessly beautiful wooden floor that will give you pleasure for a long time.

Strip parquet from HARO

We produce two formats that are suitable for laying patterns such as herringbone. For this purpose, both are delivered with right as well as left elements and are glued over the entire surface. Choose from our HARO 2-layer range the strip parquet that suits your living preferences.

Rod Allegro
The double classic: the strips are narrow and short. That makes every parquet layer happy. Because the format makes numerous patterns possible, even herringbone. The choice of wood is varied: the spectrum ranges from modern light oak to striking American walnut. Plank dimensions 70 x 490 mm,

Prestige plank strip
The oak with format: The generous dimensions of the parquet strip make classic installation patterns look timeless. Elegant and striking, Prestige fits into any room. Even in the bathroom! Take a look at the wood types in the virtual floor studio. Plank dimensions 120 x 1000 mm.

Small rooms really big: What room effect do you want to achieve?

Small rooms, large rooms, wide rooms: there is a suitable parquet floor for every room. In addition to the laying pattern, two other criteria influence the visual effect: the laying direction and the size of the wood.

The direction in which the strips are laid influences the direction of the room:

Laying pattern for short rooms
An optical extension is also possible. The parquet strips are laid parallel to the long wall of the room. With herringbone parquet, for example, the tips of the strips then point towards the short sides of the room. The size of the strip, as well as the intermediate and wall frieze, can visually improve the size of the room.

Laying patterns for narrow rooms
Would you like to make a narrow hallway look more spacious? Laying strip flooring, ladder flooring or herringbone flooring across the direction of the room will visually widen the room. Long, tube-like rooms appear shorter.

Laying patterns for small rooms
Small strips and detailed patterns visually enlarge rooms. The smaller the strip, the larger the room appears. More intermediate friezes also ensure a visual enlargement. The Allegro strip from HARO would therefore be more suitable for small rooms than the Prestige strip.

Laying patterns for large rooms
Conversely, large parquet strips such as Prestige strips make rooms look smaller. A wide or dark-coloured wall frieze also helps.

Note

A cube pattern has a neutral effect and does not influence the length or width of the room. However, care must be taken to match the parquet strip to the size of the room.

Our HARO partners help with the selection

Pattern, room size, incidence of light, laying direction: there's a lot to consider when choosing strip parquet. Can't see the parquet for all the patterns? Our HARO dealers have all the criteria in mind. They will help you choose a pattern to suit your individual needs.

Whether English bond, herringbone parquet or installation in the bathroom - 2-layer parquet and full-surface bonding is a major challenge for DIY enthusiasts. We recommend: Have strip parquet laid by a professional. This will give you an optimum result that will make you happy for many years to come.
