Dedicated to sustainability for more than 150 years
Anyone creating products from natural materials as we do has to work in harmony with nature, rather than against it. A company history stretching back over 150 years gives an idea of how sustainability determines our everyday work. Our certifications confirm our total commitment in this area: The woods we use are certified under PEFC, which confirms that they come from sustainably managed forests. In concrete terms, we primarily use native wood types and therefore minimise the adverse impact on the environment through shorter transport routes. We even source two thirds of the spruce we use as the bottom layer for HARO PARQUET from the local region.
Our cutting edge manufacturing facilities are also a step in the right direction from the perspective of the environment; we can therefore guarantee a high raw material yield and do not waste valuable resources. The fact that we think and act sustainably is also demonstrated in terms of energy supply: we have been using waste wood from our production since 1971 to generate eco-electricity, which we not only use for our own company, but also feed into the public grid. What’s more, we also utilise our own hydropower plant on the company's premises to generate electricity in an environmentally-friendly manner. In 1998, Hamberger was one of the first companies in the wood-processing industry to be certified under DIN EN 14001 and also validated under the EU ECO Audit. Environmental competence proven in practice by a company with regional roots and a long tradition, which is instantly recognisable even at first glance thanks to certification under the “Blue Angel” environmental seal.
