Boarding house with healthy living design floor

Berlin – More and more companies are using rooms and apartments in so-called boarding houses when posting their employees on long stays to other cities for specific projects. This type of accommodation is much more appealing than a hotel. Boarding houses can be found primarily in large cities such as Hamburg, Frankfurt or, as with the property shown here, Berlin. 48 lofts have been developed in an existing building from the late fifties in addition to retail stores. These lofts have been fitted out with the healthy living and easy-care design floor DISANO by HARO. The residents including those who only live here on a temporary basis can experience that feeling of being "At home, at last", as the Haro slogan goes.

Bike living on PVC-free design floor
A bicycle is often a faster – in any case more environmentally friendly – way to get around in a large city than taking the car and is also more flexible than public transport. No wonder therefore that more and more city dwellers are switching to the bike. And this is the exact trend that MIB AG, a real estate company for project development, is following with its concept of "Bike Living". With a living space of between 45 and 70 m², the 48 lofts offer the tenant the option of bringing his or her bicycle into the apartment by means of a separate lift and stowing it there in a safe "Bike Box". The healthy living design floor DISANO by HARO, which is free of PVC and softeners, was installed as a floating floor over an area of 2,500 square metres to cater for this. DISANO by HARO is sure to impress with a length of 2035 mm and width of 235 mm as well as authentic bevelled edges on all four sides. Even in the smaller apartments this creates a generous impression of space. The medium-brown colour tones of the wood style Wild Oak gives a particularly authentic look and can be combined with various interior furnishing styles and colours. Only DISANO offers such excellent stability combined with resilience with its semi-elastic pressure distribution layer, thus guaranteeing excellent walking comfort. The floor is easy to maintain and pleasantly warm to the touch.

Revitalisation
The existing building was designed in the late fifties by Hertie in a typical department store style, opened in 1961 and run by Hertie until 2009. As the traditional retail location was revitalised, the building was gutted down to the supporting structure and completely re-built. The high-quality extension as well as the implementation of the facade design from the pen of Berlin Architect Thomas Müller took twelve months to complete. The building now has a modern shaped shell, while the large two-coloured recessed façade structure above the transparently designed retail frontage visually highlights the varied usage on the different floors.
