General Terms and Conditions for the Installation of HARO Quality Flooring
over Underfloor Heating

All HARO floor coverings are suitable for installation over underfloor heating. The type of heat generation (warm water, electric heating, etc.) is not decisive for the suitability for use over underfloor heating.

Requirements on the underfloor heating system:

  • The surface of the installed floor covering must not exceed a maximum temperature of 25°C at any point in time during operation of the underfloor heating system.
  • The total thermal resistance should not exceed 0.15 m²K/W.
  • The heat must be distributed evenly over the entire surface.
  • If multiple heating circuits exist, the floor covering may only be installed without expansion joints if all heating circuits are run at the same temperature.
  • The heat-up record and the CM measurements (measuring points!) must have been conducted at approximately the same time and must meet the requirements specified by Hamberger (see Laying Instructions).

Requirements on the 3-step preparatory measures for installation:

  • Leak tightness test
  • Functional heat-up phase (for heating system)
  • Preparatory heat-up phase (for floor covering)

    Please note in this connection:

    • The heat-up record for the preparatory heat-up phase for the floor covering must be filled in completely and signed!
    • CM measurements must be carried out at the specified measuring points (the absence of measuring points constitutes a nonconformance for which a notice of defect may be given).
    • During flow temperature increase and decrease, the rooms were ventilated and draught was avoided. No building materials and other coverings were placed on the heated surface.
    • The subfloor must be laid professionally as per German Standard ATV DIN 18 353. (http://www.vob-online.de/)
    • The "Schnittstellenkoordination" technical information issued by the German associations Zentralverband SHK (http://www.zentralverband-shk.de/), Zentralverband Deutsches Baugewerbe (http://www.zdb.de/) and Zentralverband Parkett und Fußbodentechnik (http://www.zv-parkett.de/) must be complied with.

HARO Tip: It is strongly recommended to have this work and the preparatory measures indicated above performed by a qualified expert!

Requirements on the floor construction:

The total thermal resistance is the sum of the individual thermal resistance values of the floor covering and footfall sound insulation used. The total thermal resistance should not exceed 0.15 m²K/W.

Some benchmark figures:
Floor covering: Thickness Thermal resistance
HARO PARKETT 2500 11 mm 0.076 m²K/W
HARO PARKETT 4000 13 mm 0.110 m²K/W
HARO PARKETT Carre 16 mm 0.140 m²K/W
HARO TRITTY 75/100 7-8 mm 0.063 - 0.069 m²K/W
HARO CORKETT* 11 mm 0.150 m²K/W
HARO LINETT* 10 mm 0.085 m²K/W
*) insulation underlay not required!

Sound insulation
Silent Pro® 3 mm 0.030 m²K/W
Silent Pro® 2 mm 0.025 m²K/W
Silent Pro® 1 mm 0.013 m²K/W
Corrugated cardboard 2.5 mm 0.040 m²K/W
Roll-out cork underlay 2 mm 0.040 m²K/W
no insulation underlay 0.0 m²K/W

Calculation examples:

HARO PARQUET 2500 Corrugated cardboard 2.5 mm
0.076 m²K/W +0.040 m²K/W = 0.116 m²K/W

HARO PARQUET 4000 Silent Pro® (3 mm)
0.110 m²K/W +0.038 m²K/W = 0.140 m²K/W

HARO TRITTY 75/100 Roll-out cork underlay 2 mm
0.063 - 0.069 m²K/W +0.040 m²K/W = 0.109 m²K/W

HARO CORKETT
(insulation underlay not required) = 0.150 m²K/W

HARO LINETT
(insulation underlay not required) = 0.085 m²K/W
