As a vibrant material, each wood species has its own distinctive features. This includes the most various interactions with air and light or UV light. Light wood gets darker with time, dark wood species tend to lighten. A key wood compound is lignin. It changes the colour of the wood when exposed to sunlight. Tropical wood species can strongly alter when exposed to light. Iroko and Doussie wood tend rather towards a dark brown tone. The wood species whose colours are the steadiest are African Oak and Oak Carbon Black – almost no colour alteration. Our colour-refined parquet floors, which feature solid-coloured top layers, are also very colour fast.
